This free-to-view short video features guzheng virtuoso Annie Ni Jia Wei introducing the glorious sound of the guzheng, the Chinese equivalent of the harp. She demonstrates four key techniques (playing arpeggios, tremelos, glissandos and the wobbly wah-wah effect (!) produced by sliding the finger and flexing the string while playing). Jia Wei accompanies me on one of my favourite Chinese folktales, The Fourth Question, and while covid prevented us from recording the story together, in the video her synchronicity with my performance is very clear.
